Description
Four Crowns. Shawano Country hails itself as Wisconsins barn quilt capital. The barn quilt project was started in 2010. Shawano County Barn Quilt Project now boast over 300 barn quilts throughout the county on well-preserved barns. The designs are created by local artist, and then placed on a host farm. Barn quilts are an eight by eight foot piece of plywood. No two barn quilts are designed the same. All designs have been given a name. The name of the barn quilt pictured here is Four Crowns. The airplane in the middle represents the 30 years Ken spent flying with American Airlines. Ken grew up on a small dairy farm just west of Clintonville. But after graduating from college, he decided to join the Marines in the aviation program. He served as a pilot on active duty for the Marines for 12 years, serving in Viet Nam. After that, he was a pilot for American Airlines, retiring in 2000.
