Description
G.L. Ostrander was built in 1976, by Halter Marine Services of Pierre Part, Louisiana as the Andrew Martin for AMT Marine.
The tug was later sold and renamed as the Jacklyn M, and then as the Robert L. Torres.
In 2002, She was then acquired by LaFarge North America Incorporated of Bingham Farms, Michigan. Where she was renamed as the GL Ostrander, although she is operated by Andrie, Incorporated of Muskegon, Michigan. The tug was repowered and outfitted with a Bludworth coupler system. Powered by two EMD 645 E7B 20 cylinder diesel engines with Reintjis RM-WGV-681 reduction gears turning via 36(in) 4 3/16(in) by 14.5(in) shafts, two stainless steel, four bladed 140(in) variable pitch propellers for a rated 7,200 horsepower. She is 136 feet in length.
