Canim and Milwaukee Pierhead - The Canin passing the Milwaukee Pierhead as it enters the break waters of Lake Michigan, in Milwaukee, WI. The Canim designed by Ted Geary as one of eight ships of her class in 1928-1930, all of which are still in service. The Canim was built at Lake Union Drydocks, Seattle, WA.,in 1930 for Col. A.J. Blethen as a private yacht. Lenght: 96.3 ft, Beam: 18.5 ft, Fuel Capacity: 2450 gal., Power: 2 - Cummins 300hp, Draft: 6.8 ft. Displacement: 87 tons, Water Capacity: 1020 gals, Crusing Speed: 10 knots. Canim has 7" x 7" frames of yellow cedar on 20" centers. Hull planking is 2" fir over diagonal 1" yellow cedar. Main deck is 3" yellow cedar and boat deck is 1" red cedar. All framing and planking is clear, quarter sawn and original. Interior woods are teak and mahgany. The Canim has been continuously upgraded, most recently in 2002. The Canim is privately owned, home port, Boston, MA.
